Quiet and cheap travel: After electronic vehicles on the roads, the era of electric planes may soon begin in the world. Recently, the world's first electric plane took off in America. It covered a distance of 130 km from East Hampton to New York's John F. Kennedy Airport in just 30 minutes. This was a test flight. By the end of this year, such planes are expected to get approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration for commercial flights.
American company Beta Technologies was working on this plane named 'Alia CX-300' since 2017. According to the company's CEO K. Clark, this is a 100% electric plane. There were four passengers on board during the test flight. Currently, the plane takes off in the air after running on the runway. Soon its new version will have vertical takeoff and landing technology.
Air travel will be cheaper than helicopters
Air travel with electronic planes will become very cheap. Only eight dollars (about Rs 700) were spent to charge the plane for the test flight. Its journey is cheaper than a helicopter journey. A normal helicopter spends about $160 (Rs 13,885) on fuel to cover a distance of 130 km. Once fully charged, the electronic plane can travel 450 km. It makes less noise than normal planes.
Good option for short journeys
The company that makes 'Alia CX-300' says that electric planes can be a clean, quiet and cheap option for short journeys between cities or towns. Due to low cost and noise, it will provide relief to passengers. Normal planes emit carbon dioxide. Electric planes will be free from this.
